Free Moss Stitch Crochet Washcloth Pattern
Crochet washcloths are a quick and easy gift for any crocheter to whip up! I have gifted them to my sister, neighbors, kids’ teachers, etc. You can whip a handful of them up in under an hour.
Add this pattern to your list of stash-busting crochet projects! They are a great way to use the cotton yarn already in your stash!
Have you ever used the Moss Stitch before? It makes a stretchy fabric that is just so wonderful! And the stitch is so easy. I have a video tutorial for you in this post. Be sure to check it out.

About the Moss Stitch
The special stitch used in this pattern is the Moss Stitch, which is essentially chaining 1 and working a sc in the ch 1 space of the previous row. I have written out how to work it up in Rows 2 & 3, and then simply refer to it as “Moss Stitch” thereafter.
The Moss Stitch is similar to the Mesh Stitch. Click here to learn more about the mesh stitch in my Simple Mesh Coaster pattern.

- To make the striped version, switch colors every 2 rows.
- If you prefer to make a different size, simply chain an even number of stitches then work the pattern as written.
