Looking for a simple moss stitch project? Try making up with the Striped Moss Blanket Square. You can work up a bunch of these and stitch them together or make one and add it to a blanket with different squares, like the Love & Joy CAL afghan.
Have you ever used the Moss Stitch before? It’s also called the Linen Stitch it makes a stretchy fabric that is just so wonderful!
And the stitch is very easy. I have a video tutorial for you as well in this post. Be sure to check it out.
About the Yarn
I chose to use the Wool of the Andes Worsted yarn because I enjoyed working with it when I made the Striped Moss Christmas Lapghan. This yarn was generously gifted to me by WeCrochet to use as a design for the Winter Wonders Blog Hop. I had a bit left over, so I made up this little square.
You can use my affiliate link to shop this yarn, and browse for other favorites (I also used Wool of the Andes in my Twisty Tree Ornament. I used Brava in the Cozy Alpine Pumpkins & Cozy Alpine Pouf. I used Mighty Stitch in my Monstera Leaf C2C Afghan and the wall hanging too!)

If you enjoy this pattern and are looking for another way to use it, I have adjusted the pattern to make it it’s own cozy blanket.

Pattern Notes
US Terminology
Stitches between *asterisks* are repeated.
The special stitch used in this pattern is the Moss Stitch, which is essentially chaining 1 and working a sc in the ch 1 space of the previous row. I have written out how to work it up in Rows 2 & 3, and then simply refer to it as “Moss Stitch” thereafter.
Each color change happens at the end of the row. Instead of fastening off at each color change, I prefer to drop the yarn and pick it back up after the next 2 rows are worked. The extra yarn will be covered up by the border.
If you prefer to make a different size, simply chain an even number of stitches then work the pattern as written.
Work more or less rows if you’d like your square longer or shorter.
