Mosaic Triangles Crochet Baby Blanket – Free Pattern
The Mosaic Triangle Baby Blanket features a stunning geometric design that babies and parents will love! This mosaic crochet baby blanket makes a thoughtful gift, an eye-catching addition to a nursery, and a soothing comfort item for the littlest ones.

The gorgeous triangle pattern in this baby blanket is created using overlay mosaic crochet, a deceptively easy technique where you only use one color per row. Even better, you don’t have to worry about weaving in your ends because you’ll hide them all inside the envelope border.
At 24 x 36 inches, this small blanket would be an ideal first mosaic crochet afghan to try. Its simple repeat is a great way to practice the technique. Plus you’ll end up with a warm and meaningful gift that will bring much needed comfort to babies and their parents. Don’t have a baby in your life? This would also be a lovely charity crochet project to donate to a local NICU or family in need.

What is overlay mosaic crochet?
I have written this whole post with the assumption that you all know what mosaic crochet means.
Overlay Mosaic Crochet is a technique that requires you to work in the BLO (back loop only) and then drop down to pick up the front loop of stitches from lower rows which creates textured stitches that lay over the stitches from previous rows and can be used to create wonderfully intricate patterns.
These patterns are worked in one direction only, fastening off the working yarn at the end of each row, and beginning again at the beginning of the piece — no turning involved. Each new row consists of only ONE color, but with the use of the sc and drop down dc stitches, you get the mosaic design. Most overlay mosaic patterns come with a chart. The symbols on the chart tell you when to use a dc and when to use the special drop down dc.
It seems complicated, but I promise, it’s super easy (and addictive) as you go.
Visit this blog post for a basic overview of the technique
