Tips for Working the C2C Baby Blanket Crochet Pattern:
Corner-to-Corner or C2C:
You’ll be using hdc C2C crochet techniques to create the baby blanket. The hdc C2C stitch consists of a ch 2 + 3 hdc to form one C2C pixel, and each increase is ch 5 + 3 hdc. Click here for my blog post on this technique, which includes a video tutorial as well.
This great thing about this design is that it requires no color changes! Instead, the ombre yarn creates the gradient effect. So all you need to know is the C2C increase and decrease (see the videos above).

Jasmine Stitch NICU Bonding Square

The Yarn: Worsted
This baby blanket is made from Lion Brand Mandala Ombre (100% acrylic), a super soft and squishy acrylic yarn with gradual color changes. If you want the gradient effect (light to dark and back again) you will need to use an ombre yarn. But this blanket would look great in a self-striping or solid color of yarn as well. Be sure to share pictures in my FB group so we can see what you come up with!

The Hook: 5mm
I used an H/5.00 mm hook to make my square.

Let me know if you run into a problem. I respond quickly and will help any way I can to clarify any confusion or challenging stitches.

Has anyone actually worked this pattern yet? I’m confused. “ Ch 5, hdc in 4th ch from hook and next 2“. If you’re making a hdc in the 4th chain, then there is only one chain left. It’s impossible to hdc in the “next 2” with only 1 chain left. So is the mistake that we should be chaining 6 and not 5 to begin with or is the mistake that we should be doing a hdc in the 3rd chain from the hook and not the 4th?
At this point I may just Google a different pattern.
Hi Victoria,
It should be dc in the 3rd ch from the hook and the next 2. I’m sorry for the confusion. We will get it fixed ASAP.
Thank you,
