Special Stitches
Flower Petal Stitch (FPS)
Basically working a Dc5Tog (Double Crochet 5 together) across 3 different “eyes” Work as follows:
Ch 3, yo, insert hook through 1st chain (the one furthest from hook [note: this is also called the “eye”]), yo and pull up a loop, yo and pull through 2 loops (counts as 1 “leg” of the Dc5Tog). Work the 2nd and 3rd legs of the Dc5Tog into the base of the dc, (*yo, insert hook into the base of the dc, yo and pull up a loop, yo and pull through 2 loops, repeat from *.) Skip 2 sts, in the next st work the 4th and 5th legs of the Dc5Tog, (work legs as explained) After making the 5th leg, there should be 6 loops on your hook, yo and pull through all 6 loops.
Note: Legs 2&3 and 4&5 or worked on top of the bpdc from the previous row.
Stacked Single Crochet (stsc)
Basically working a sc then another sc in the left leg of that 1st sc. It creates a nice alternative to a ch 2 or ch 3 at the beginning of a row. Work as follow:
Turn your work. Do not work any turning chs. Work one sc in 1st st. Insert your hook into the left leg (or right leg, for left-handed) of the sc, yo and pull up a loop (2 loops on hook), yo and pull through both loops.
Pattern Notes
- Written in US terms.
- This strip begins on the right side and ends with the wrong side facing you.
- The odd numbered rows are the right side of the work. The even numbered rows are the wrong side.
- All the bpdc stitches are worked around the fpdc from the previous row.
- There is a video tutorial for this pattern HERE.
