All 12 of these crochet patterns are:
- Free on the blog
- Workable in less than an hour
- Stash-busting
- Use interesting stitches
- Perfect for gifting or adding to your own tree

What is a CAL?
Perhaps you have never participated in a Crochet Along before and you may be wondering what in the world I am talking about.
A Crochet Along (CAL) is essentially an event where you crochet along with other people creating the same project. A each part of the pattern is released bit by bit, and you work at the same pace as other participants.
Here are some examples of other CALs I’ve hosted in:
- Gingerbread CAL
- Nordic C2C CAL
- Geometric Mosaic Blanket CAL
- Mosaic Nordic CAL
- 4th of July Pillow CAL
- Monthly Mosaic Mystery CAL
For this CAL, I have collaborated with Joanna of High Desert Yarn, to bring you 12 different, free crochet Christmas bauble patterns! So instead of one big pattern worked bit-by-bit, we’re offering 12 mini patterns in a larger collection.
The patterns will be free on our blogs or you can purchase the pattern bundle, which includes the 10 original patterns (the other two are available free on the blog).
Once you work up the pattern for that day, be sure you head over to the High Desert Yarn Handmade Community on FaceBook to share pictures or your WIPS and completes baubles. (I would normally say say pictures in the J&O Crochet Community FB group, BUT with the Mosaic Nordic CAL and the Monthly Mosaic Mystery CAL, ornament pictures might be too much! Lol).

The patterns are all brand new & will be released daily from December 1st-December 12th. If you want me to let you know when next next pattern is live just let me know your details and I’ll send you a quick message! (I’ll be sending out these emails to my email subscribers).

A Peek at the Crochet Christmas Bauble Patterns
Stash-busting Crochet Christmas Bauble patterns
All of these bauble patterns are meant to be “Stash Busting” patterns.
What does that mean? Well, instead of going out and buying new yarn, you simply use the yarn that you already have in your stash. I’m sure you can go to your stash and find some Christmassy or festive yarn that you’d like to use to make up your ornaments.
Materials to Make the Crochet Christmas Bauble Patterns
Yarn
All 10 patterns use worsted weight yarn and use roughly 35 yards, give or take.
I worked my first set of baubles up in red & green scrap yarn I had laying around,
Then I thought it would be fun to have a complete set (with Joanna’s included) worked up in a similar color-scheme. I had some left over Wander Acrylic yarn from Furls in different shades of green, so I used that stash to work up some more samples for my cute white Christmas Tree.
Purchase the Yarn
Hook
We used a 5mm/H hook for these baubles. You may have to adjust your hook size based on gauge & tension.
When I originally worked these baubles, I used a lovely green Furls Odyssey in Emerald & Nickel. I love the way this hook feels in my hands.
This particular emerald and nickel hook is no longer available. However, Furls comes out with gorgeous new hooks all the time! I also use and love several hooks from their line of Streamline Wood Crochet Hooks. These hooks also have an ergonomic shape that feels great to work with!
Purchase A Similar Hook
2.65” Clear Plastic Baubles
In addition to the yarn & hook, you will need a clear plastic bauble as an insert for your ornaments.
I got a 20 pack of 2.65” (diameter) clear plastic baubles from Hobby Lobby.
Here are some similar ones from Amazon.
