Cozy Cabled Ear Warmer – FREE Crochet Pattern
I am so excited to be able to share this new FREE crochet pattern with you today, as it is very near and dear to my heart. And come to think of it, it isn’t even new at all! This is the first pattern I ever designed which was more than 6 years ago! I created this ear warmer as a way to practice the new skill I had just learned: crochet cables!

- Row 1: (WS) Start with 6 bpdc
- Row 2: (RS) Skip 3 st, fptc in each of next 3 st, fptc in each of first 3 sk st
- Row 3: (WS) 6 bpdc
- Row 4: (RS) 6 fpdc
- Repeat!
If you’re more of a still visual learner, I have a neat picture tutorial for how to work up cables. Check out each step and become familiar with it before you move on to the pattern.
Pattern Notes
US Terminology
When the row begins with CH3, it does count as a st.
Instead of beginning a row with CH 3, you may want to choose to use a false (or chainless) DC stitch as explained in this video.
Add or subtract rows or cables for bigger or smaller head circumference.
The 3 FPTr in the 3 sk DC are worked in front of the first 3 FPTr.
Play around with yarn weight and hook size for different cozy results.
