It’s no secret that I like to include my family in my crochet business. My business was named after two of my little angel babies. My Georgia Wall Hanging (and Georgia Pillow) were named after the third miscarriage. My children are always getting in my yarn, they make appearances in my video podcast, and they also inspire me to crochet things out of my comfort zone.
Once I had worked up this pillow, I knew that I had to name it Griffin. It is made using the Celtic Weave which is a complicated stitch that has many layers, acts a little funny at times, may drive you crazy, and has an Irish look about it — just like my Griffy-boy. 🥰
To celebrate the release of this pattern, the Griffin Pillow was featured as one of the Autumn Exclusives, curated by Cosy Rosie UK. If you missed the event, you can buy the Autumn Exclusives Bundle, which is ALL 40 patterns released in this collection at an especially discounted price!) here.

The Yarn
The yarn for this pillow was provided by Madeline Tosh to use for a design as part of their MT Studio program. I was looking for a soft, bulky weight yarn for a pillow. I knew I wanted to experiment with the Celtic Weave stitch. I chose the yarn HOME in the color-way “Glazed Pecan” and boy! I was impressed. This color is PERFECT for Autumn, wouldn’t you say?
I am going to be honest… I have never used such fancy yarn.
There, I said it.
I really had no idea on how to get used to the yarn! How was I supposed to get it from the hank and work with it without causing the yarn to tangle? Well, if you have seen any of my TikToks, you may know that I did indeed tangle it. But by the time I got through my 3rd hank, I had a better grasp at what I was doing.
I really need to invest in a yarn winder. Do you have any suggestions?
The Stitch
I’m not sure where I first saw the Celtic Weave stitch, but when I did, I knew I HAD to learn it and use it in a pattern. I am an Irish lass after all. It is such an intricate stitch, and it took me a few tries to get used to it. But since it is just a 2-row repeat, I picked it up eventually. Haha! Have you ever tried it?
