Skill Level:
Easy/Beginner
Materials
Yarn: Scraps of worsted weight yarn in 3 colors. I used Furls Wander 100% Acrylic,
- Hook H/8 – 5.00 mm
- Yarn needle
- Scissors
- 2.65 inch plastic bauble ornament
Gauge:
Not essential for this pattern.
Finished Size:
Fits a 2.65” diameter plastic bauble ornament.
Stitch Abbreviations (US Terminology)
- ch – Chain
- dc – Double Crochet
- GS – Granny Stitch
- sc – Single Crochet
- sl st – Slip Stitch
Special Stitches
GS – Granny Stitch: 3 dc worked in the same stitch followed by a ch-1
Pattern Notes
- Ch 3 at the beginning of a round does count as a dc.
- Round 2 uses 3 dc clusters with no ch 1 afterward. Rounds 3 & 4 use “GS” which is the same thing, but with a ch 1 after the 3 dc cluster.
- For a solid colored ornament, do not change colors each round.
- This ornament is made by creating 2 panels each with 4 rounds. The 2 panels are joined together using the whip stitch.
- If you tend to have loose tension when you crochet, you may need to go down a hook size to make this bauble, or simply buy a bigger bauble to make your finished size.
