My 5 Favorite Things about attending Crochet Fashion Week
The first ever Crochet Fashion Week was held on February 11-12, 2023 in Atlanta, and I had the wonderful pleasure of attending as a ticket-buying member of the audience.
I posted a couple Reels on Instagram and YouTube. Have you seen them? Go check them out and comment on the Reel with your favorite design.
I really enjoyed the whole experiences and here were my 5 favorite things about attending crochet fashion week:
Don’t have time to read this right now? Pin the image for later!
1. Meeting favorite crochet designers in person
I had heard mention of the event on day and was interested; learning that it was just a 3-hour drive made me even more interested; but learning that my dear internet friend Fiona of Cosy Rosie UK would be one of the designers featured on the runway? I had to be there! I’ve known Fiona as a fellow crochet designer on the internet for the past couple of years. We’ve been in different blog hop events together, encourage each other in our business, and chat practically every day in a group chat with other crocheters. As her business name suggests, she is from the UK, so meeting her at this event was a real treat!
Another friend from our little network, Stephanie from Classy Lady Yarnworks, was up for the trip too, so the two of us roomed together in an Airbnb and sat next to each other with our VIP seats (more on that below).
Here’s a video of us just chatting about Crochet Fashion Week and whatever happens to come up!
One of our other designer friends, Courtney from Creations by Courtney, also showcased her pieces on the runway. It was so fun to meet in person, hug, and chat like we were old friends who hadn’t just met for the first time. Haha! She’s the one who convinced the yarn bus to come (more on that below).
Besides meeting online besties, I loved meeting designers that I had admired from afar, namely Gregory Stitch. If you haven’t seen this guy’s stuff, you need to. It’s amaze-balls. That peacock dress? OMG.
Another designer who I follow on Instagram is That Crochet Guy. I love his bags — I mean his ART! 😉 We both follow each other but don’t really interact that much. It was fun to introduce myself and have him say he recognized me too. I just love the crochet world!
2. Gathering with like-minded individuals who ALL love yarn!
It was soo fun to be in a room full of people who all love yarn, just like me! We all laughed at similar jokes. We all wore outfits featuring yarn. We all carried at least one ball of yarn in our purses — just in case! Being in that crowd was like coming home.
The MC of the event would sometimes “bash” one of the crocheters he knew who was always in the corner crocheting. His friend preferred hanging with his yarn and hook over chatting at a party. The way he told the story was like we would understand the MC’s point of view — but it was very clear that we all sided with the crocheter in the corner! 🤣
3. The yarn bus
After the fashion show was over, we found a yarn bus out in the parking lot!
The Traveling Yarn Yogi is a bus full of indie-dyed yarn. And it was AMAZING! Check out the Reel I made!
I spent so much time in that bus just looking around, unable to decide what to buy. Finally, I landed on some purple yarn to use to work up some socks for myself. I’ve never made socks… anyone have a pattern I can check out?
Shopping for yarn with my yarnie friends will be a memory I cherish for a long time!
4. Networking with people I hadn’t met before
Not only where there some crochet friends I met for the first time, and some designers that I have followed and admired for a long time, there were also some new people I had never met. I was pleased to meet everyone and hope to form some better relationships with going forward.
Premier Yarns sponsored the event. A few members of their marketing team were there and we swapped information. You know I love working with yarn companies!
Mrs. Deveter from Furls Fiberarts was there! I work with Furls a lot, but have never connected with Mrs. Deveter herself. I’ve got some designs with Furls and Crochet Foundry coming up, so hopefully we can connect again!
I am following so many new people on social media from the designers to the models to people in the audience, my network has definitely grown. I’m excited to see where it leads!
5. Being inspired by all the outfits – on AND off the runway
OK, I know this is why you’re here! Why you came to the post. You’re here for the pictures!
I promise not to disapoint.

The outfits were stunning! I’ll let the pictures speak for themselves. To be honest, the white wedding dress brought tears to my eyes. So beautiful!
This is one of my favorite pictures from Crochet Fashion Week. I love how Mrs. Deveter is just gawking at Gregory Stitch’s designs. She looked exactly how I felt. When that peacock dress came out — I about lost it! I have been admiring that dress on Instagram forever. I show people that dress all the time. To see it in person in that setting was a dream!
There were also some pretty amazing outfits worn by members of the audience. Unfortunately, I didn’t take any pictures, as I was too busy chatting with the wearers and admiring their work.
I mentioned that bit about the VIP seating. Stephanie and I bought the fancy, upgraded, VIP tickets.
With those seats, we got a wristband, front row seats, the Crochet Fashion Week magazine and a swag bag. Was there anything IN the swag bag? Not except for the magazine. Were the VIP seats any closer than the normal seats? Barely.
I’ve seen that there is already a second Crochet Fashion Week scheduled for later on this year in New York. Good on them. If you decide to go, you may reconsider purchasing the VIP tickets. They weren’t that great comparatively. But if that’s my only complaint, we’re going great! The show itself was phenomenal! I had a great time.
I’m going to squeeze in an extra #6!
Really, one of my MOST favorite parts of Crochet Fashion Week was sitting across from Vanessa’s family as her pieces were coming down the runway. The pride, the awe, the fascination, and the joy on their faces was so felt all over! I can’t tell if it was the final dress itself, or seeing her mother cry and her fiance’s face light up when it came out for us to see, but I was practically bawling my eyes out when this final dress was being modeled. I know the dress had very special meaning to the designer and her family, which made it extra special.
Tell me, what has been your favorite outfits? Would you ever wear crochet fashion?
