Shell Stitch Bookmark – FREE Crochet Pattern
This year, I have really been enjoying reading more books and crocheting these quick bookmark patterns. I announced my 2023 Bookmark Bonanza CAL in January and I hope you’re excited for the third bookmark on the list.
But if you’re new on this adventure, let me give a quick recap. The Bookmark Bonanza is a year-long crochet-a-long where I’ll read 12 actual, physical books and crochet a unique bookmark for each one. So far, I’ve released the first bookmark of the series, bookmark #2, and a bonus bookmark.
They’ll be released monthly, (along with the title of the month) one at a time for free on my blog (although you can help yourself to all 12 by purchasing the Bookmark Bonanza CAL Pattern Bundle). They’ll come with a video tutorial and also a little book review.
You can share your thoughts on the book of the month in both my Facebook group and CAL group on Ravelry and see how others are styling their bookmarks.
This month, the book I’m reading is The Husband’s Secret.
“At the heart of The Husband’s Secret is a letter that’s not meant to be read…
My darling Cecilia,
If you’re reading this, then I’ve died…
Imagine your husband wrote you a letter, to be opened after his death. Imagine, too, that the letter contains his deepest, darkest secret—something with the potential to destroy not only the life you built together, but the lives of others as well. And then imagine that you stumble across that letter while your husband is still very much alive…
Cecilia Fitzpatrick has achieved it all—she’s an incredibly successful businesswoman, a pillar of her small community, and a devoted wife and mother. But that letter is about to change everything—and not just for her. There are other women who barely know Cecilia—or each other—but they, too, are about to feel the earth-shattering repercussions of her husband’s secret.”
This is my second time through this book. The first time I listened to the audiobook for a book club that I used to be part of in South Dakota. Now that I live in Tennessee, I recently joined another book club and we’re meet to discuss The Husband’s Secret yet again. This time around I thought I would better read it with my eyeballs instead of listening to it. The funny thing is that I can still hear the narrator’s voice in my head while I read the words on the page.
I have listened to all of Liane Moriarty’s books, I think she has the same author for all, or most of her books. The inflection she uses is so spot on. It’s a joy to listen to these books. And it’s fun to read the books with the same inflection.
Concerning the secret of the husband, I will leave that up to you to discover. No spoilers here! All that I’ll say is that Liane’s books tend to have a complex storyline with different points of view and you’ll need to remember parts from the beginning as the story is wrapping up. Sometimes, you may need to take notes on who is who.
If you prefer, you can listen to the audiobook while you’re going about your daily routine. I love listening to books on Scribd because I get access to ALL the audiobooks in their library with my monthly subscription.
I’d love to keep sharing my thoughts on the book with you all but let’s get to the free crochet bookmark pattern!
